Live Music from the film, ''Life On The Run" (4:00 PM - 7:00 PM)
Coffee Planet Café - 100 Milton Avenue - Ballston Spa, NY 12020
The creative team of Roger Wyatt and Letitia Splain Dayer will present a LIVE MUSICAL PERFORMANCE from their upcoming Indie feature, "LIFE ON THE RUN," as part of the CLOSING RECEPTION FOR on July 30th for their art exhibit currently on display at the Coffee Planet Café, "Shards of Memory: Reflections and Glances from the Trail."Wyatt is the Director and Dayer is the Producer of "Life on the Run." The live performance will feature original compositions in two sets (at 5:00pm and another at 6:00pm) written and performed by local musician, Matthew G.

>>>>> Matthew G plays a leading role in the film as singer/songwriter Chris King in his youth. A SCENE FROM THE FILM will also be shown at the reception. The selected scene depicts a bit of "magical reality" where middle-age Chris King (played by local Shakespearean actor, Tony Pallone) is confronted by his younger self (Matthew G) during a time of despair over a failed musical career in Jazz that might have been. Life on the Run has been filmed in many familiar Capital District locations as well as in LA, New York and Washington, DC.

>>>>> The CLOSING RECEPTION will be on Thursday, July 30th, from 4 to 7:00pm at the Coffee Planet Cafe, located in downtown Ballston Spa at 100 Milton Avenue. "Shards of Memory" is an exhibit of images - with an accompanying book - by area artists, Letitia Splain Dayer and Roger B. Wyatt. The exhibition runs for the whole month of July. The reception is free and open to the public.

>>>>> There will also be a BOOK SIGNING at the Closing Reception on July 30th of "Shards of Memory," an exquisitely printed book of images and accompanying poetic texts from the show. "As we pursued this project, the exhibit expanded quite organically into a book. This project, which was our first major collaboration after we met a few years ago, generated so much energy and creativity that the book seemed inevitable," Letitia said.

>>>>> Letitia Splain Dayer is an expressive arts painter who describes her style of working as jazz painting, an intuitive process of creating images and the accompanying poetry. She is also the founder of the Barn at Bassett House (BBH), a community art space located 15 minutes east of Saratoga, on the shores of the Hudson River in Greenwich, NY. Filmmaker and digital artist, Roger Wyatt, conjures up images of the extraordinary found within the ordinary. Wyatt observes that "The result of our intertwined lives is 'the alchemy of love and art' that graces the walls with this exhibition."

>>>>> This art display, composed of original images created by the two artists, include paintings, Giclees, and digital image montages. Letitia explains, "Giclees are fine art reproductions that are signed and numbered museum quality limited editions. Each digitally mastered print is produced under the direction of the artist on acid free cotton rag paper." Posters and cards will also be available at the reception.

>>>>> The "Shards of Memory" exhibition explores Roger Wyatt's observation that, "We remember moments, not days. The past is remembered more like haiku rather than a novel. The exhibit examines the fleeting glances; the silence after the door has closed. These images show us that, over time we become a lifetime of moments."

Marcus Ruggiero at The Newberry Music Hall (9:00 PM - 12:00 AM)
The Newberry Music Hall - 388 Broadway - Saratoga Springs
A great artist taking up the banner of the Saratoga Sound and bringing a contemporary version of it to today's generation. Saratoga has been the inspiration to many of the greats including Bob Dylan and Don McLean and has been the place to be for every major touring act today. Marcus has been compared to Eddie Vedder and Bruce Springsteen because of his heartfelt baritone vocals....but its his songs that make him stand out. They are great stories about the human condition covering everything from love and loss to the frailties of just being alive. Make no mistake when you hear Marcus you will be entertained and moved through a gritty pop based Americana sound, but your soul will be touched at the same time by his lyrics and emotion.

Art on the Mountain - Art Show (10:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
Grant Cottage Historic Site, Wilton, NY
Almost immediately upon the establishment of Mt. McGregor as a resort destination, artists and art began appearing on the mountain. At one time there stood an Art Gallery on the mountain showcasing the works of well-known American artists such as Albert Bierstadt and Thomas Moran. Throughout the years and amidst many changes, artists both renowned and unknown have continued to leave their mark. Ulysses Grant, once a young artist himself, understood the draw Mt. McGregor's beautiful setting could have on an artistic soul. Those freedoms of artistic expression exhibited on the mountain pay tribute to a man who devoted his life to guarding those freedoms and to his final majestic mountaintop home. Join us as we celebrate and continue this legacy of art on the mountain through showcasing the wonderful work of local artists at the inspiring location of Grant's Cottage on Mt. McGregor. If you are an artist we invite you to bring your supplies, find inspiration on the mountain and help keep the legacy alive. Featured artists/presenters include: Jay Freud (Photography), Vicki Feldman (Textiles/Quilts), Lynn Benevento (ADK Paintings), Tim Dobert (Paintings), Gail Squillace (Glass Art), Robert Gullie (Mixed Media/Collage Art), Janet Flinchbaugh (Textiles/Floorcloths), Ron Sweet (Historic Prints).

The Philadelphia Orchestra - 1812 Spectacular (8:00 PM)
SPAC, 108 Avenue of the Pines, Saratoga Springs, NY
The Philadelphia Orchestra Finale will feature a power and intensity appropriate to say good-bye for another year. The program will include stirring Russian Romantic works: Glazunov's "Autumn" from The Seasons, Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 2, and Rachmaninoff's Prelude in C-sharp minor, orchestrated by former Philadelphia Orchestra Music Director Leopold Stokowski. In addition to the works of the highly respected old masters, the Finale program will also include the artistry of up-and-coming classical musicians. Joining the Orchestra for the Piano Concerto is 22-year-old pianist BEATRICE RANA, described by Gramophone Magazine as "an old soul that belies her twenty years, [possessing] more than a touch of genius." The program will also feature Mixed Messages, the newest work of critically acclaimed contemporary composer Nico Muhly, whose recent work also includes commissions by the Metropolitan Opera, the New York Philharmonic, and New York City Ballet. Mixed Messages, commissioned by The Philadelphia Orchestra, will have its world premiere in May 2015 in Philadelphia and its New York premiere at Carnegie Hall, and will be one of the works performed on the Orchestra's 2015 Tour of Europe. Finally, in keeping with time-honored tradition, the Orchestra will conclude its 2015 residency with its annual performance of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture.

Eric Paslay-Vapor Live (7:00 PM)
Vapor Night Club-Saratoga Casino and Raceway
Born in Abilene, Texas and raised in Waco and Temple. By the age of 16, Paslay had already written and recorded 10 songs that he played out around Texas. When Paslay moved to Nashville to pursue a music career, he eventually landed his own deal with the Cal IV in 2006. His songwriting and his impressive voice began garnering attention from labels and he signed with EMI Records Nashville. Paslay says he began writing songs because he wanted to sing them for people. "I turn it on when I get on stage. I love to entertain," says Paslay. Fans who have seen him on stage will testify there is so much more to the tall, Texas redhead than his excellent songwriting ability. Paslay is a charismatic performer and a potent vocalist who knows how to connect with an audience. As his hit singles "Friday Night" and "Song About A Girl" reach the upper level of the charts, Paslay has arrived as an artist in his own right.
